It wasn't long ago that the worlds of streetwear and luxury fashion were mortal enemies. Fine artist and fashion designer PEL joins Cheddar to discuss his upcoming exhibition "Luxurious Villain." The project explores the relationship between fashion's haves and have-nots and debuts this Spring. PEL explains how he's borrowing from the sneaker world in planning the launch of "Luxurious Villains." He'll announce the time and location of the exhibition on Instagram, leveraging his social media following to build up hype. The installation is taking place in France, New York, Miami, and Chicago. PEL walks us through the history of collaboration between the streetwear and luxury worlds. He also explains why he decided to portray the brands as rival gangs in his work. The artist just completed a project where he reinvented popular hip-hop songs as visual works of art.
