Since 2008, 47 dogs in 14 states have died following grooming appointments at the nation’s leading pet store chain. 32 of the deaths occurred after 2015, when PetSmart was bought by private equity firm BC Partners. The nine-month probe by NJ Advance Media said the dog deaths could be a result of inexperienced groomers forced to meet high daily quotas. The company has even been using software that lets scalpers buy up tickets en masse and instantly hike prices for resale. Ticketmaster is the world's largest ticket supplier and has a near monopoly on major event seating in North America and the United Kingdom. In the past, the company has implemented strict purchasing limits to curb scalping on the platform. However, a Toronto Star reporter found Ticketmaster violating their own terms of use at a Las Vegas “Ticket Summit” convention, when the company was facilitating the scalping of its tickets.
