*By Max Godnick* Two years remain of President Trump's first term, but he's already got a presidential library. Sort of. The archive of the world's most famous Twitter account is the subject of the new book, "The Daily Show With Trevor Noah Presents: The Donald J. Trump Presidential Twitter Library." The volume is an exhaustive collection of the president's most memorable and infamous tweetsーspanning his career before, during, and after his presidential campaign, plus his time in The White House. "Donald Trump's tweets are his most important document," said Steve Bodow, the executive producer of "The Daily Show," in an interview with Cheddar on Friday. "They give you the most access to who the guy is, what he's thinking, how he's thinking it." The book's release was preceded by "brick-and-mortar" pop-up locations of The Donald J. Trump Presidential Twitter Library in New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. A physical manifestation of Trump's prolific tweeting is a fitting way to document his presidency. "\[Trump\] doesn't really have documents, he has tweets," said Ramin Hedayati, supervising producer at "The Daily Show," adding, "So his presidential library would be a presidential Twitter library." The book contains a multitude of the facts, figures, and data behind those presidential tweets. It details the delightfully obscure: from the most exclamation points Trump has ever used in a tweet (16, when describing the Academy Awards in 2014), to stats on mentions of Trump's youngest daughter Tiffany versus luxury retailer Tiffany & Co. (a dead heat at six times each.) Bodow and Hedayati analyzed some of Trump's greatest "masterworks" to come from the @realdonaldtrump handle. Below are excerpts from their interview, edited for clarity. [The First Birther] (https://twitter.com/realdonaldtrump/status/232571801216118785): Bodow: "This is part of, obviously, the birthirism work that he's done, an extensive amount of it. Sometimes explicitly, much more often less explicitly, suggesting that Barack Obama was not born in the U.S." Hedayati: "It's kind of how he made his name on Twitter." Bodow: "He launched his political career on that stuff, that's a very important category." ['The Haters and Losers'] (https://twitter.com/realdonaldtrump/status/377947866641485824): Hedayati: "I think that's what we all think about when we think about September 11th is the haters and the losers." Bodow: "And their relationship to Donald Trump." [The Taco Bowl] (https://twitter.com/realdonaldtrump/status/728297587418247168): Bodow: "This is a masterpiece." Hedayati: "How better to demonstrate your love for Hispanics than to say, 'I love the taco bowl." ['Nobody Has More Respect For Women Than Me'] (https://twitter.com/realdonaldtrump/status/787359730465329152): Bodow: "The significance here is that Donald Trump is one of the world's leading feminists and you should take it from him." [Lyin' Ted] (https://twitter.com/realdonaldtrump/status/712457104515317764): Bodow: "I think it was shortly thereafter that he also suggested that Ted Cruz's dad had been part of the JFK assassination. Having done that unprecedented and really disgraceful thing, of course, he went on to win the Republican primary over Ted Cruz." [The Button] (https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-42549687): Bodow: "If you believe what he says, the nuclear threat from North Korea is now over." Hedayati: "He's getting into a button-swinging contest with /[Kim./]" "The Daily Show With Trevor Noah Presents: The Donald J. Trump Presidential Twitter Library" will be released on July 31st. Powell signals Federal Reserve to move slowly on interest rate cuts
Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell on Tuesday signaled a cautious approach to future interest rate cuts, in sharp contrast with other Fed officials who have called for a more urgent approach. In remarks in Providence, Rhode Island, Powell noted that there are risks to both of the Fed’s goals of seeking maximum employment and stable prices. His approach is in sharp contrast to some members of the Fed’s rate-setting committee who are pushing for faster cuts.
Federal Reserve cuts key rate by quarter-point, signals two more cuts
The Federal Reserve cut its key interest rate by a quarter-point Wednesday and projected it would do so twice more this year as concern grows at the central bank about the health of the nation’s labor market. The move is the Fed’s first cut since December and lowered its short-term rate to about 4.1%, down from 4.3%. Fed officials, led by Chair Jerome Powell, had kept their rate unchanged this year as they evaluated the impact of tariffs, tighter immigration enforcement, and other Trump administration policies on inflation and the economy. The only dissenter was Stephen Miran, the recent Trump-appointee.
Albania’s prime minister appoints an AI-generated ‘minister’ to tackle corruption
Albania's Prime Minister Edi Rama says his new Cabinet will include an artificial intelligence “minister” in charge of fighting corruption. The AI, named Diella, will oversee public funding projects and combat corruption in public tenders. Diella was launched earlier this year as a virtual assistant on the government's public service platform. Corruption has been a persistent issue in Albania since 1990. Rama's Socialist Party won a fourth consecutive term in May. It aims to deliver EU membership for Albania in five years, but the opposition Democratic Party remains skeptical.
Trump admin requests emergency ruling to remove Cook from Fed board
The Trump administration has asked an appeals court to remove Lisa Cook from the Federal Reserve’s board of governors by Monday, before the central bank’s next vote on interest rates. Trump sought to fire Cook Aug. 25, but a federal judge ruled late Tuesday that the removal was illegal and reinstated her to the Fed’s board.
Trump administration appeals ruling blocking firing of Fed Governor
President Donald Trump's administration is appealing a ruling blocking him from immediately firing Federal Reserve Gov. Lisa Cook as he seeks more control over the traditionally independent board. The notice of appeal was filed Wednesday, hours after U.S. District Judge Jia Cobb handed down the ruling. The White House insists the Republican president had the right to fire Cook over mortgage fraud allegations involving properties in Michigan and Georgia from before she joined the Fed. Cook's lawsuit denies the allegations and says the firing was unlawful. The case could soon reach the Supreme Court, which has allowed Trump to fire members of other independent agencies but suggested that power has limitations at the Fed.
