New York City was among home to some of the dozens of the protests held across America over the weekend.
Cheddar's Chloe Aiello, Michelle Castillo, and Douglas Murray were among thousands who gathered at Barclays Center in Brooklyn over the weekend as protesters demanded action on injustice after the death of George Floyd a the hands of Minneapolis police officers.
Here is a look at what they saw.
During Saturday afternoon's peaceful protest, speakers were preaching unity and urging the crowd to work together to end systemic racism.

Signs in the crowd shared different messages, from "Black Lives Matter" to "Defund NYPD." Others listed the names of black people injured or killed at the hands of police or in high-profile, racially charged attacks, including Freddie Gray, Amadou Diallo, Rodney King, and Trayvon Martin.

At protests both Friday and Saturday, many in the crowd came prepared with their own personal protective equipment to keep themselves safe from COVID-19. New York City is still battling to reach Phase One of the state's reopening plan. Friday evening, a protester could be seen wearing plastic gloves while handcuffed.

Police were present but largely kept their distance throughout the Saturday afternoon protest.
Tension simmered between protestors and the police officers standing only feet away. "We tried doing it their way. Colin Kaepernick took a knee," one protestor yelled.
However, when a protester tried to provoke officers, organizers encouraged him to stand down and partake in peaceful discussion and long-term solutions to systemic injustice.

On Friday, police could be seen blocking off the street behind Barclays Center in order to stage extra officers, corrections buses, and police vans. At least two buses were in the area.

Throughout Friday's protest, a helicopter was circling overhead, at times joined by a second chopper.

Later in the day, police blocked crosswalks to limit pedestrian access in and out of the protest area.

Across the street, private security guards stopped a man who told them he was trying to pick up a prescription from a Shop & Stop supermarket.
