Olympic Hopeful Wants to Help Young Women Fund Their Big Dreams
While you were out partying this past weekend, World Cup Ski Jumper Abby Ringquist was competing in the US Olympic team trials for Nordic Ski Jumping.
After placing second in the competition, she joins Cheddar to tell us how she's helping other young women fund their big dreams.
Ringquist worked three jobs to self-fund her travel and expenses to compete on the World Cup and Olympic levels. She is paying it forward by teaming up with non-profit 1,000 Dreams Fund ("1DF") to become the face of their new national fundraising campaign, #FundGirlsOntheRise.
Members of the U.S. figure skating team who finished in second place last year in the Winter Olympics in Beijing have not received their medals while a doping case involving a Russian skater plays out.
Eighteen-year-old Alyssa Thompson was among the 23 players selected Wednesday for the United States team that will defend its title at the Women’s World Cup next month.
