With beauty salons closed amid the pandemic, people were forced to take grooming matters into their own hands since gray hairs and roots don't seem to care that we are in the midst of a global health crisis.
That's where Hollywood hair color specialist Michael Canalé can help.
Canalé is the co-creator of "The Rachel" — the iconic hairdo of Jennifer Aniston's character in the TV sitcom Friends.
Canalé's first tip if you feel a hair color emergency coming on: "I would start out with concealers or maybe a headband," he told Cheddar. "Once the roots get too long, you might want to use something a little bit more permanent."
Dyeing seems to be a big trend of social distancing (there has been a lot of pink hair on social media lately). However, Canalé suggests it might be best to hold off on dramatic changes until people can get back into salons. He said the biggest mistake he is seeing is rookies trying to give themselves highlights.
Until you are back in the salon seat, Canalé suggests using the best shampoos and conditioners, as well as color-treating products. "Concealers will keep it intact until you see your stylist again,” he added.
In the meantime, for those worried about color fading, roots are very in style right now — Canalé said it himself.
