Technology changes how we communicate, use transportation, and even eat.
"If you had asked me what tech was when I first became a restaurateur back in 1985 I probably would have pointed to the NCR cash register in the back bar," Union Square Hospitality Group CEO Danny Meyer said.
Meyer, who founded the popular fast-casual burger chain Shake Shack, told Betty Liu, NYSE executive vice chairman, that now technology is changing business "dramatically."
The CEO said he welcomes technology's ability to take friction out of interactions with guests, like making reservations online, but that he would likely draw the line when it comes to replacing individuals with automated counterparts.
"I don't really enjoy the image of not having a human being taking my order and being able to explain and share their enthusiasm," Meyer stated.
