From the dangers of running a meth lab to the dangers of...boyhood.
That’s the kind of sharp turn that actor Bryan Cranston, known for his role as Walter White in “Breaking Bad,” is making with his new show “The Dangerous Book For Boys.”
“It’s a how-to book, how to embrace boyhood,” Cranston told Cheddar in an interview Thursday. He co-created the show starring Erinn Hayes for Amazon Prime.
“It’s a true family show...There’s a wholesomeness to it. There’s a sweetness to it.”
But that doesn’t mean you should binge it, says Cranston.
“I don’t know if the bingeing is very healthy,” he said. “This is a show we truly want adults to bring their kids into and all watch it together.”
“I know in my household, we’re pretty strict on screen time for our kids,” added Hayes.
For both stars, working with Amazon as a studio gave them creative freedom.
“It seemed like there was a lot of trust on their part,” said Hayes. “Some shows you work on, you get notes, notes, notes, notes, notes. And [Amazon] just kind of stood back.”
“The Dangerous Book For Boys” is based on a best-selling novel of the same name and premieres on March 30.
