Back in 2003, MobiTV and Sprint launched the first ever mobile TV Service in the US. Now, MobiTV has announced a signing deal with the National Cable Television Cooperative that could change the way cable is delivered forever. The deal is an effort to push cable companies to deliver cable through every digital and popular device including Roku, Amazon Fire Sticks, XBox, Apple TV, and more. MobiTV believes cable companies will be interested for a number of reasons, including the fact that this move will enable cable companies to stay in the game as millennials continue to cord cut. Charlie Nooney, CEO of MobiTV, joins Cheddar to explain this new deal, and the direction TV is going. While he acknowledges that the industry has changed immensely in the last 10 years, he does believe there are certain things that will absolutely play in the future of TV. One of those things is 5G. As 5G networks expand, digital TV will only continue to eclipse traditional television.
