Olympic gold medal swimmer Dana Vollmer and Go Red For Women spokesperson Dr. Suzanne Steinbaum discuss ways to make sure your heart is healthy. Dana Vollmer has won the 4th most gold medals of any U.S. female Olympian.
Vollmer explains she was diagnosed with Long QT Syndrome, a cardiac electrical disorder, when she was 15 years old. Doctors recommended she be near a pool whenever possible in case of a cardiac emergency. Vollmer has since been cleared of the condition.
Dr. Steinbaum says everyone needs to know their blood pressure. She explains the number of women under 45 with high blood pressure is expected to double because of new blood pressure guidelines.
Vollmer says she's very excited for the Winter Olympics even though she won't be competing. She told us how she gets goosebumps thinking about competing and winning her gold medals. Vollmer is currently preparing for the 2020 summer games in Tokyo.

A six-year battle over equal pay has finally come to an end-- as U.S. Soccer and The United States Women's Soccer Team have agreed to settle their lawsuit. Under the terms of the deal, the athletes will receive $24 million from U.S. Soccer, and a pledge from the federation to equalize pay for the men's and women's national teams. The NBA's Golden State Warriors recently announced a relaunch of their SuiteXchange platform, which allows owners to resell luxury suites or rent them out for individual games. The seller and the buyer really do. And that's actually one of the unique features on SuiteXChange," he said. It's like I just had the most incredible athletic experience of my life, but then its like its over in a flash," Gibbs said about the feelings an athlete can go through after finishing. She noted that it's important for them to be vocal and reach out to support networks after the rush of competition ends.
