This week President Trump announced new tariffs on imported solar panels and washing machines. The president says the move is to protect American jobs, but critics say the opposite will happen. Abigail Ross Hopper is the president of the U.S. Solar Energy Industries Association. She says there is no way that the tariffs are going to help American jobs, in fact, Hopper argues it will hurt American jobs. Hopper says we have been a leader in the solar energy space, but now, she believes we are going to cede that leadership. Overall, Hopper is concerned that this will drive businesses away from choosing solar as their power option.
