Sex Toys Becoming More Popular, Thanks To Shows Like "Broad City" and "Grace and Frankie"
Once considered taboo, sex toys are now becoming a mainstay in pop culture. Shows like "Broad City," and films like "Fifty Shades Of Grey," have increased cultural awareness and acceptance of sex toys. Now the adult toy industry is cashing in.
Zoe Henry, Reporter at Inc. Magazine, explains why the sex toy sales are growing at a rapid rate. In 2015, the adult toy industry surpassed $20 billion. That rate is expected to rise at about 8% each year through 2020.
One of the last major players in the DVD rental business has expressed interest in purchasing Netflix's mailing division, which is now set to be shut down. Bill Rouhana, CEO of Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment, which owns Redbox and its network of DVD kiosks, told The Hollywood Reporter that "I'd like to buy it," and that he's reached out multiple times about an acquisition.
