Michigan Senator on Autonomous Cars: Biggest Tech in Auto Industry
Senator Gary Peters (D-MI) spoke with Cheddar about sexual assault allegations against his Democratic colleague Senator Al Franken. He said he supports and investigation by the Ethics Committee into the incident.
Moments after the House Republicans passed its version of a tax reform bill, the Michigan Senator gave us his thoughts on the plan. He worries about the debt younger generations will inherit if the House or Senate versions of the bill make it to President Trump's desk.
Senator Peters also believes the autonomous vehicles will cause a technology revolution, similar to the assembly line. He is working on legislation to advance testing and development of self-driving car.

Bioscience and genetic engineering company, Colossal, raised $60 million in a Series A funding round. Colossal is focused on developing new technologies and genetic tools to restore extinct species, and protect critically endangered species. One of the startup's long-term goals is to resurrect the woolly mammoth, and return it back to the arctic. Colossal also says it is developing technology that expands beyond animals, and has the potential to advance human health. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg joined Cheddar's Michelle Castillo from South By Southwest to boost President Biden's bipartisan infrastructure legislation and talk about the big transportation issues of the day, including electric vehicle charging infrastructure and the future of public transit.
