Ian Gertler, Founder and CMO of Symplegades joins Cheddar to talk about his predictions for the IoT industry in 2018. The question is: will advances in the technology be directed towards citizens and customers, or will they be more company-specific? He believes we'll see a lot of IoT developments within smart cities, manufacturing, and retail. In the retail sector specifically, using IoT isn't a new thing, but he wants companies to have access to more real-time data. When it comes to IoT security, he says companies need to make cybersecurity the foundation of whatever they're creating. It can't be an afterthought, because whatever information is out there, hackers will try to steal.
