On a Positive Note: New York Man Serenades Hospital Staff After Life-Saving Intervention
Daily news headlines can often be jarring, overwhelming and leave people feeling a sense of hopelessness, but Cheddar News is looking to capture those feel good moments as well.
In this segment of On a Positive Note, Allen Gogarty, a Queens, New York man, used his musical talents to say thank you to hospital staff. Gogaraty suffered a heart attack but was saved -- not once, but twice. He felt the need to pay them back and after recovery, whipped out his guitar and took it back to Irish folk rock roots. "The gift of life has been handed back to me and its something that we take for granted, that I won't ever take for granted again," he said.
After serving an in-school suspension over his hairstyle, a Black high school student in Texas immediately received the same punishment when he arrived at school Monday wearing his hair as before in twisted dreadlocks tied on top of his head, his mother said.
Jackie Siegel, best known for her 2012 documentary 'The Queen of Versailles,' joined Cheddar News to reflect on the death of her daughter due to a drug overdose. She also discussed how she's using her platform to advocate for awareness of overdoses and to help with prevention.
