The 2021 Queer Liberation March was the capstone of New York City Pride this year. Attracting some 50,000 marchers, participants used their platform to call out issues still plaguing the LGBTQ community including access to health care for trans individuals, HIV treatment and prevention, and fighting discriminatory legislation nationwide. 

And amid a broader reckoning over police brutality and systemic racism, it put a spotlight on tension between police officers and the LGBTQ community. Cheddar News’ Chloe Aiello reports.
