New Documentary "The Volunteers" Follows the War Against Isis
Ricky Schroder made his name in Hollywood as a TV star, and now he's got a new passion: making documentaries about war, and the lives it impacts. His latest project, "The Volunteers," takes viewers to the front lines of the fight against ISIS in Northern Syria. The three-hour series follows a cameraman's efforts to save lives, providing medical treatment, care, and training to the victims of the deadly crisis. Schroder tells us why he's so passionate about the material, and gives his take on whether Hollywood is telling soldiers' stories effectively.
Then, we discuss the flood of headlines coming out of Hollywood accusing powerful entertainment figures of sexual harassment. With almost four decades in show business, Schroder tells us whether he's surprised by the allegations and if he thinks Hollywood has reached a turning point.
Sēkr, a mobile app that aims to improve and digitize the outdoor travel experience, announced this week that it raised a $2.25 million seed round. In the Sēkr app, users can get access to more than 50,000 campsites throughout the U.S. including the nation's largest database of free campsites. The company is saying it is on a mission to make every step of the planning experience for outdoor travel easier, safer, and more social. In a 5-4 vote, the U.S. Supreme Court allowed for a controversial new version of the Alabama congressional map to remain in place.
