Live With Kelly — Not Ryan
Ryan Seacrest will be saying farewell to Live with Kelly and Ryan after six years on the talk show. He's headed back to Los Angeles to take up hosting duties on ABC's other hit show, American Idol, and will remain ABC's host of Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve With Ryan Seacrest. The show will go on in New York City with Kelly Ripa joined by her husband, actor Mark Consuelos. Live with Kelly and Mark will launch this Spring.
Paramount Price Hike
If you're a fan of the Paramount+ streaming service, get ready to shell out more cash to watch your favorite shows. Paramount Global announced that a price hike is imminent with the company set to see a negative free cash flow this year. With the premium tier service including content from its cable network Showtime, the price will jump from $9.99 to $11.99/ The lowest tier featuring ads and excluding Showtime will go up to $5.99 from the previous ad-free tier of $4.99.
'I Am Legend' Sequel
A sequel to Will Smith's 2007 thriller I Am Legend is in the works. You might be confused on how a sequel could possibly happen with Smith considering his character died at the end, but filmmakers revealed that the next installment will pick up where the alternate ending of the original film left off. Instead of blowing up the lab, Smith's character was able to survive the zombie invasion of his home by curing one of them and returning her to her partner. The three survivors then traveled to Vermont to spread the cure. Smith will be joined by Michael B. Jordan in the sequel.
Disney+ will premier a new action-comedy series called 'American Born Chinese' that debuts in May and is based on the novel by Gene Luen Yang. The series creator, Kevin Yu, along with actors Chin Han and Ben Wang joined Cheddar News to discuss how they became involved with the project and what the series brings.
Dylan Sprouse and Virginia Gardner joined Cheddar News to discuss their new movie, 'Beautiful Disaster,' a new romance based on the 2012 New York Times best-selling self-published novel by Jamie McGuire.
Danny Taing, founder and CEO of Bokksu, joined Cheddar News to discuss his path on how he became an entrepreneur to launch a company that delivers artisanal Japanese snacks. "When I moved back from Japan to New York, I had this bit of reverse culture shock ... a lot of people had somewhat of a one-dimensional view of Japan ... they saw this country where people ate sushi every day ... none of that is true," he said.
