The government is back up and running after Congress passed a short-term budget deal. The deal funds the government until February 8th, but is the showdown really over, or has it just been delayed? Amanda Marcotte, Politics Writer at Salon, discusses the specifics of the deal. Democrats didn't get what they wanted when it comes to immigration and DACA, but they did get six years of funding for the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP). Part of the reason that Democrats agreed to the deal is that Senator Majority Leader Mitch McConnell agreed to allow a vote on the Dreamers. Marcotte says she doesn't believe that he will actually follow through on that promise.
