*By Samantha Errico* New Year's resolution season is in full swing. Enter mind-body wellness expert Erin Stutland, who helps people conquer their goals through body mindfulness with her new book, "Mantras in Motion: Manifesting What You Want through Mindful Movement." So what, exactly, is mindful movement? According to Stutland, the practice is exactly what its phrasing implies. "Bringing yourself into the present moment while you are moving," Stutland told Cheddar Wednesday. She also encourages people to live in the moment through mantras and affirmations. In Stutland's view, the practice is largely about asking the right questions. "Why do want what it is that you want; what sort of feelings will it bring you?" she asked. By addressing those feelings, you can identify your core values and the specific mantras you want to manifest. "No two things can occupy the same space at the same time." Being present in your workout and thinking about your next meal, for example, can't co-exist in the same head space. Stutland's advice? Simply say the mantras out loud to connect your body and mind. Rather than feel the pain, she wants readers to embrace their power. For full interview [click here](https://cheddar.com/videos/using-movements-and-mantras-to-conquer-your-2019-goals).
