Jacobs Engineering Group is celebrating their 70th anniversary. The team is looking towards the future and the potential infrastructure bill that could be passing sometime this month or next. JEC explains why this bill is necessary and what impact it would have on the U.S. as a whole. Steve Demetriou is the Chairman and CEO of Jacobs Engineering Group. Demetriou explains that the infrastructure bill is well overdue. The train, road, and other systems are in need of major improvements. According to the American Society of Civil Engineers, the U.S. needs to invest more than $4.5 trillion by 2025 just to bring our nation's infrastructure up to "adequate" standards. Passing the infrastructure bill could require initiatives like hiking the gas tax.

Trump Administration Shutters Consumer Protection Agency
The Trump administration has ordered the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau to stop nearly all its work, effectively shutting down the agency that was created to protect consumers after the 2008 financial crisis and subprime mortgage-lending scandal. Russell Vought is the newly installed director of the Office of Management and Budget. Vought directed the CFPB in a Saturday night email to stop work on proposed rules, to suspend the effective dates on any rules that were finalized but not yet effective, and to stop investigative work and not begin any new investigations. The agency has been a target of conservatives since President Barack Obama created it following the 2007-2008 financial crisis.
