His new Amazon bestseller, "The Longevity Diet," helps patients to live longer, healthier and more fulfilling lives by slowing aging, fighting disease and optimizing weight. Dr. Valter Longo sits down with Alyssa Julya Smith in Los Angeles to share some of his secrets to living a healthier life.
Longo explains that the diet is based on 25 years of research and what he calls, “five pillars of longevity." These include research, epidemiology, clinical studies, centenarian studies and studies of complex systems. Longo is also the director of the Longevity Institute at USC and has done research on mice to back his findings.
He talks about the importance of fasting a few times a year to help other parts of your body heal and function. "The Longevity Diet" is currently available on Amazon.
