Dow Jones industrials fell more than 1,500 points on Monday. This marked the largest single-day point drop in history. Melissa Armo, Owner of The Stock Swoosh, explains her outlook on the market amid this volatility.
"I would not panic at this point," says Armo. "When you look at it in the whole--in the bigger picture--it's really not that terrible."
The deadline for a budget resolution before a government shutdown is on February 8th. Armo says this looming deadline could be impacting investor confidence.
Stocks were mixed at the open but Wall Street was heading for a losing week as investors digested the hints that the Federal Reserve could raise rates before the end of the year.
Sales of previously occupied U.S. homes fell for the third month in a row in August, as higher mortgage rates, rising prices and a dearth of properties on the market shut out many would-be homebuyers.
