Dow Jones industrials fell more than 1,500 points on Monday. This marked the largest single-day point drop in history. Melissa Armo, Owner of The Stock Swoosh, explains her outlook on the market amid this volatility.
"I would not panic at this point," says Armo. "When you look at it in the whole--in the bigger picture--it's really not that terrible."
The deadline for a budget resolution before a government shutdown is on February 8th. Armo says this looming deadline could be impacting investor confidence.
Stocks jumped in Monday's early session after a slew of earnings and other news events that saw the market attempt to make a positive finish to a rough month. Investors also braced for a rate decision from the Federal Reserve as well as the latest jobs report this week.
