“Great art, great performances, great records. They don’t happen overnight.”
So said Emmy-nominated choreographer Laurieann Gibson, who says social media has ruined the journey to achieving success.
“Sometimes with Instagram and the need to just post something, get immediate gratification, and you’re on to the next, it’s kind of made my process not so beautiful,” she said. “The value of what we get to do has diminished.”
Gibson has choreographed and produced tours for the likes of Lady Gaga, Beyoncé, Katy Perry, Michael Jackson, and many more. So she knows a thing or two about greatness.
In an interview with Cheddar, she said wants to show people how to embrace the process of getting there with her new show “Beyond the Spotlight.” The series will take you behind the scenes of sessions with A-listers such as Sean “Diddy” Combs, her long-time collaborator.
“Beyond the Spotlight” premieres on Lifetime, Friday, March 2nd.
