Dr. Brenda Fitzgerald stepped down from her post one day after Politico reported her investment in Japan Tobacco Inc. A spokesperson for the Department of Health and Human Services said in a statement that Fitzgerald was unable to divest in a definitive period of time and the department's secretary accepts her resignation.

Umbilical cord blood banking platform Anja Health raised $4.5 million dollars in a seed round led by Seven Seven Six, a venture capital firm founded by Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian.
