"Red Sparrow" Director Talks New Jennifer Lawrence Film
Francis Lawrence, director of the new movie "Red Sparrow," joins Cheddar to discuss the new film which hits theaters this Friday, March 2. This is Lawrence's 4th time working with Jennifer Lawrence. Previously, they worked together on the three "The Hunger Games" films.
Lawrence says he and actress Jennifer Lawrence (no relation) love working together and have become great friends. When Francis Lawrence first read the book which "Red Sparrow" is based on, he called Jennifer Lawrence immediately.
Jennifer Lawrence plays a Russian spy in the film. When he was making the film, Francis Lawrence explains the Russian angle didn't seem especially relevant. But now, the Russia storyline seems pretty in tune with our current political reality.
