Bobby Rahal, who became one of an elite group of race car drivers by winning the Indy500 in 1986, has remained a huge part of the racing world. He caught up with Alyssa Julya Smith at the Los Angeles Auto Show preview to talk about his partnership with Jaguar Land Rover, and Jaguar's I-PACE eTrophy Series. Rahal talks about being the first to partner with the luxury automaker to launch a new electric racing league solely for Jaguar I-Pace electric vehicles. Rahal will lead the Rahal Letterman Lanigan team in the new series, set to launch in 2018. He explains that since they are electric cars, each race series will be 30 minutes long, and will run solely on electric power. The Jaguar series will coincide with the Formula E schedule during the 2018-19 season that begins next December.
