The top five GIFs of 2017 are the guy blinking, baby crying, Jonah Hill's "yay," Shaq laughing, and Obama's "Oh yeah." McIntosh says negative emotion searches went up 31 percent in 2017. Meanwhile, positive emotions decreased 18 percent. "We can get a great sense of how people are actually thinking and feeling," says McIntosh. Though GIF searches were more negative overall, searches for "laughing" nearly doubled since 2017.
