Dollar General workers and labor advocates on Wednesday gathered outside the company's headquarters to voice concerns over safety and health protections. The protest comes ahead of the company's annual shareholder meeting. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) cited unsafe conditions at numerous dollar general stores in recent years, according to data from the Gun Violence Archive. Since 2014, there have been 49 reported deaths and 172 injuries at Dollar General stores.
The Federal Reserve left its key interest rate unchanged Wednesday for the second time in its past three meetings, a sign that it’s moderating its fight against inflation as price pressures have eased. But Fed officials also signaled that they expect to raise rates once more this year.
