Popular Science has declared January as "fat month" and vows to explore the pros and cons of what fat does to the body. Sophie Bushwick, Senior Editor at Popular Science, joins Cheddar to discuss a diet called Keto, which consists of eating almost all fat.
Bushwick explains the ketogenic diet requires people to get 80-90 percent of their calories from fat. It's a more extreme version of the Atkins diet, where carbs are the enemy. She also explains that some fat leaves the body when you breathe! But, don't be mistaken...you won't lose fat just by exhaling.
Plus, Popular Science explores why fat seems to hang out in the belly. She talks about side effects to the body if we allow too much fat to hang out...no pun intended.
