Kevin Hayes, executive editor of The Weather Channel, discusses the website's year-long climate change project. Highlighting stories from all 50 states, the project shows how communities are grappling with the impact of climate change. Hayes says the project focuses on stories rather than facts because of how difficult it can be to understand climate science. Telling stories that show real issues real people are facing makes it easier to understand climate change. For example, the dry climate in Nebraska is making it difficult to grow barley which in turn makes it difficult to produce beer.
