*By Madison Alworth* Elon Musk wants to conquer the roads with Tesla and the skies with SpaceX. And the CEO's ubiquity is exactly why The Onion founder Scott Dikkers decided Musk would be the perfect subject for his newest satirical book. Penning ["Welcome to the Future, Which is Mine. By NOT ELON MUSK"](https://www.amazon.com/Welcome-Future-Which-Mine-Elon/dp/153876413X/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1538685169&sr=1-1&keywords=welcome+to+the+future+which+is+mine) required blood, sweat, and space travel. "I had to do a lot of research for this book, I had to go to Mars," Dikkers said Wednesday in an interview on Cheddar. That's exactly the kind of take you might expect from the man who started the internet's favorite fake, funny ー but also frighteningly real ー news source. When Elon Musk started poaching writers from the media company for an unannounced project, Dikkers's book made all the more sense. "This is an opportunity to sort of rip them all," he said. "There are a few jokes in the book that Elon Musk is going to create a new company that's just like The Onion, not realizing there's already an Onion." But it's all in good fun. Dikkers works on and off with The Onion, and he still maintains a close relationship with the staff. He said he's always happy to see Onion employees grow and succeed. "The culture there is, we are very happy for people when they go off and do something else." Even if that something else is working for the Tesla ($TSLA) chief, who Dikkers said is "having more and more power over our lives." "We need to be aware of the inner-workings of his mind, so we can understand what our future is going to be like," he added. "Welcome to the Future, Which is Mine. By NOT ELON MUSK" is available in stores and online. For full interview [click here](https://cheddar.com/videos/new-book-written-by-not-elon-musk).
