Universal Music Wants to Bring Back Cassettes and Vinyls
Universal Music Enterprises' new platform, Urban Legends launched on November 20th to celebrate the revolutionary and defining recordings primarily of the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s. VP of Urban Catalog at UMe, Andre Torres, sits down with Alyssa Julya Smith in Los Angeles to explain the concept behind the new site.
At its core, Urban Legends serves as both an editorial content site and ecommerce platform, delivering daily news, editorial features and franchises, and video updates on hip hop and R&B artists.
Torres explains the site will also be a place for fans to purchase vintage and new CDs, vinyl, and cassettes, as well as reissued classic albums as deluxe vinyl box sets to celebrate three decades of music. UMG’s urban catalog music world is also fully available, with Urban Legends highlighting exclusive interviews, product drops, and artist conversations.
