New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art held its annual Costume Institute benefit on Monday, and the 2018 Met Gala theme of "Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination," gave the stars in attendance plenty of room to interpret for themselves how the Church's style best suits them. "People really owned it and I think that is what makes the big difference and made it so much fun," said Aemlia Madden, the fashion editor at Who What Wear, in an interview Tuesday with Cheddar. Some of the celebrity guests made bold statements with elaborate sartorial allusions to the holy subject material: See [Blake Lively's] (https://www.glamour.com/story/met-gala-2018-blake-lively-red) custom-made diamond halo and [Katy Perry's] (http://time.com/5268745/katy-perry-met-gala-2018/) life-sized angel wings. "I think a lot of these stars are kind of known for breaking the rules and that's exactly what we saw," said Emily Longeretta, TV editor at Us Weekly. The longtime host of the Met Gala, Condé Nast's iconic artistic director Anna Wintour, curated its exclusive guest list, as she has since 1995. This year's invitees featured the traditional roster of A-list actors, musicians, and supermodels, and also included public figures like Mitt and Ann Romney. Condé Nast denied [reports] (https://www.thecut.com/2018/04/anna-wintour-vogue-magazine-denies-leaving.html) that Wintour would leave her post as Vogue's editor-in-chief. Regardless of her future at the magazine, Wintour made this year's ball one to remember. "If this was her last, I will say, she went out with a bang," said Longeretta.
