Hanks on AI

Artificial intelligence is already proving to be technology that could have an impact on creative spaces. While OpenAI CEO Sam Altman warns that maybe Congress or some global agency establish regulations around the tech, some in Hollywood are cozying up to the concept of the latest in computer-generated entertainment.

Iconic actor Tom Hanks even questioned if audiences would care if an actor's likeness, such as his own, were to be posthumously added to a film.

"Without a doubt, people will be able to tell, but the question is will they care?" he asked during The Adam Buxton podcast. "There are some people that won't care, that won't make that delineation."

His comments come as the Writer's Guild of America strikes against Hollywood studios and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers for a number of reasons, including adapting artificial intelligence into script writing.

Momoa's Shark Week Duties

The Discovery Channel's annual Shark Week is just on the horizon, and there's a new voice set to MC the block of programming.

Jason Momoa, who knows a thing or two about the deep seas following his portrayal of the DC universe's Aquaman, will lead the 35th annual celebration. All week long he'll host events and unearth some little known shark facts.

"As the host of Shark Week, I am beyond excited to take you along this journey," Momoa said during Warner Bros. Discovery's Upfronts, according to Variety. "This project means more to me than a week of talking about sharks. It's a chance for me to learn and share my connection to these amazing creatures. My love of sharks came long before my time as Aquaman — it began several generations before me."

Momoa reprises his role as the underwater superhero in the sequel Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom to hit theaters in December.

Selena in the Kitchen

Selena Gomez foodie fans will rejoice at this announcement: the singer has been tapped by the Food Network to lead two new shows.

Gomez is no stranger to cooking on television as she currently hosts Selena + Chef on HBO Max and now she's expanding her TV presence. She will also host a "celebration-focused series," which will debut around the holiday season.

Then next year she's taking her foodie skills up a notch in a series that will have her meet up with some of the world's best chefs as they try to impress her with some of their best dishes.
