AUTO RECALL ROUNDUP
A major automobile recall is impacting over 340,000 cars, including Kia, Hyundai, Toyota and Nissan, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Kia is recalling over 180,000 2021-2023 K5 Sedans, due to a faulty airbag that could cause them to deploy improperly. Meanwhile, Toyota is recalling over 130,000 2022-2023 Toyota Tundra trucks, due to an issue with flatbed covers becoming detached while drivers are on the road. Lastly, Nissan is recalling 1,000 vehicles due to a faulty steering wheel.
GIRL SCOUT COOKIE SHORTAGE
It's the middle of Girl Scout cookie season, and if you ordered some and haven't received them, that's because we're also in the middle of a girl scout cookie shortage. The shortage is due to production issues at a manufacturing facility in Kentucky where the cookies are made.The facility is run by the Little Brownie Bakers company. The company said in a Facebook post that labor shortages, severe weather in Kentucky, and global supply chain issues have led to this delay. But fear not. The company said it will be working overtime to fulfill orders, and expects that by April everyone should have their cookies.
FOREVER CHEMICALS IN TOILET PAPER
According to new research from the University of Florida, 21 brands of toilet paper from across the globe tested positive for at least one of a group of about 14,000 forever chemicals. These chemicals, which don't naturally break down, are linked to cancer, kidney disease, autoimmune disorders, and other serious health issues. While it is not clear what effects the use of toilet paper may have on the body , this research shows the waste flushed down toilets and sent to sewage treatment plants is likely a significant source of water pollution.
