Investing in Lending Club

Seeking Alpha Author Billy Duberstein joins Cheddar to discuss why he has a positive outlook on Lending Club, an online platform connecting borrowers and investors. Duberstein talks about challenges the company has faced in the past, and how it's adjusting internally Lending Club went public in August of 2014 at $15 per share, but has dropped down to around $4 recently. Duberstein talks about highlights from its investor day on Thursday, December 7th. He says Lending Club is three times bigger than Prosper, the second-biggest pure marketplace model, which is still private. Lending Club and Prosper are the oldest and have the most data. Other competitors that use their balance sheet are Discover, SunTrust, Lightstream, and Goldman Sachs' Marcus product, which are all growing, but still not as big as Lending Club.
