One in five planes for U.S. flights has not been updated to prevent 5G signals from interfering with the plane's altimeter, which pilots need for landings in bad weather. Starting July 1, when wireless companies are allowed to switch on 5G towers near airports, unequipped planes will not be allowed to land in bad weather, forcing reroutes that could become another source of flight delays.
